Time for another Art Party!

Here we go again...the lunch ladies are having another art party. Don't you love this image that Cathy's used for the invitation? Cathy has such a fun sense of humor and always finds the perfect image for the occasion. Well, as you can see from the invitation we're going to be playing with beeswax. I have a new small collage to experiment with along with some atcs so it should be a lot of fun! We're also going to try out Cathy's new button maker. I'll be sure to post some photos!

Red Lead Charm Swap

These are the three charms I made for February's charm swap on the Red Lead group. I love using Red Lead's clear bits...these acrylic shapes make it easy to create a great little charm. Red Lead has them in all shapes and sizes too so there's lots to choose from. The little bird houses are actually buttons ( I just removed the shanks) that I found the last time Grace and I went to the Creation Station. They have a huge button bin and once we saw these we spent the better part of an hour digging through it to rescue all the birdies!

Estate Sale Treasures

Since Quinn's travel disasters caused us to cancel our weekend plans I found myself in the happy situation of having a Saturday off with nothing pressing to do. I love to go to estate sales but since I generally work every Saturday I end up missing all the best ones. This Saturday I finally caught a good one and came away with some treasures. First off was this lovely little bark cloth quilt. The fabric is just gorgeous. I also found some sweet embroidered hand towels, a lovely springy yellow (spring swap?) set of napkins, an
old tin first aid kit, some owl playing cards and
owl mugs and the dearest little bisque dollie with
no arms and a broken foot. The woman who was collecting the money felt so bad about the asking price for a doll in that condition that she cut it in half! Little did she know I would've paid double what she was asking! Isn't it a coincidence that she looks so much like the embroidered child on the towel behind her? Ah...such fun for so little...now what will my little dollie become?

My craft room

Quinn did such a nice job adding shelves to the closet workspace in my craftroom that I had to take a few photos and show you my favorite place to be. Just knowing that this happy spot is waiting for me while I'm at work is enough to get me through the longest day and bring a smile to my face. My craftroom is in what used to be Megan's room and I like to think some of her bubbly spirit is still in here. Thankfully, the orange and green paint are not...sorry Megan! I know I'm a lucky girl to have my own little space to play in every day...even Rosie (the corgi) loves to play in here!

Art Party

Our "lunch ladies" group had another art party earlier this month. We had such a good time! I love this bunch...they're so talented and funny...the time we spend together just flies by! Once again, Jo and Cathy shared their lovely home with us offering the perfect setting to inspire us. We feasted first then got down to business working with polymer clay. Jo had the pasta makers and the ovens going constantly as we created molds and worked with pigment powders each creating a stash of things to use in future projects. As usual, Lyneen was a little dynamo churning out an amazing number of pieces. That girl can work! I can't wait to see what everyone creates with their pieces. All in all it was another great afternoon filled with good food, good friends and lots of fun. As you can see, Grace got in another dog dance with Dagger! I can't wait for the next one...beeswax and buttons!

Catching up

Things have been so hectic here...in a good way at least...that I've neglected my blog. So, today since it's my day off I thought I'd do a little catching up. Here are a few atcs and a "Nurse Linda" Valentine I made for my co-workers at the blood center. I found some gorgeous papers to use on these cards. The background for the fairy card is from Cosmo Cricket and the other paper used in each of these is from Making Memories. The trim at the bottom of the nurse valentine is the back of the paper used in the top one...both sides are so pretty it was hard to decide which one to use. I've added a picture of both so you can so how pretty they are. We don't have access to a lot of different papers close by so it's such a treat to find two that I've had such fun using. Don't you just love gorgeous papers? I hope everyone had a lovely Valentine's Day!

Can you believe it's already less than 2 weeks until Valentine's Day? It seems like I just finished putting away the Christmas decorations! Oh well, if Valentine's Day is right around the corner then you know it's time for another wonderful countdown from Lisa Vollrath. RedLead Domino Swap

This month at Red Lead we're swapping dominoes! This was a three for three swap which is so easy and fun to do. I had some of the Red Lead Valentine collage images and I couldn't resist using them for my dominoes. Red Lead has so many wonderful collage sheets...check them out here.

SDA January Swap

Here's the group back from SDA for January...another great month. Thanks to all the gals in Group one!
